Carbondale Plans 'Pioneer City Christmas'

CARBONDALE - The Pioneer City Christmas Celebration will feature the Pioneer City Christmas Ball, the first annual Christmas tree lighting, a Victorian Christmas open house and a Christmas concert.

Tunkhannock Area School District will continue to adhere to their current extracurricular eligibility policy. On November 20, the district’s board of education shot down a motion to reinstate Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) eligibility rules for extracurricular activities.

The Abington Heights Middle School soccer team posted a perfect 14-0 Lackawanna League Division I record. In the post season, Abington went on to defeat Mt. View, 2-0, both goals being scored by Alex Chapman, to win their fourth consecutive Lackawanna League title. The team has won 59 consecutive Lackawanna League matches over the past four seasons. Abington Heights came up a bit short in attempting to defend their third consecutive District 2 title, falling to a very good Dallas squad, 2-0, in the championship.
