Mary C. Gilpin,92, of Scranton and formerly of Lake Winola, died Sunday, November 15, at Green Ridge Health Care Center in Scranton. She was the widow of Jabez H. Gilpin who died in October 1999.
Born in Northmoreland Pa. daughter of the late John and Goldie Smith Headley,she was employed by the garment industry for over 30 years. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, in Lake Winola.
Surviving are sons, James and his wife Carol, Centermoreland; Richard and his wife Ruth, Lake Winola; David and his wife Holly, Clarks Summit; Melvin and his wife Sylvia, Dalton; Marvin, Honesdale; Ralph and his wife Suzanne, Factoryville; two daughters , Joan Dymond, Pittston; and Carol Koons and her husband Robert, Pittston; nineteen Grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother Philip Headley, Centermoreland; a sister Rose Watson, Clarks Summit and a sister-in-law Olive McConnell, Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death four sons, Walter, Ronald, Robert, and Jay; a grandson Todd Gilpin; three brothers Dorrance and VanBuren Headley, and John Walter; and a sister Harriet Fox.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. Colin Morley, pastor of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, Lake Winola, and Rev. Barbara Snyder, Pastor of the Waverly United Methodist Church. Interment Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Mill City.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral Home.
