Dance students compete

The Performing Arts Alliance recently held their yearly championships on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16, in Valley Forge. Students who had competed at the qualifying regional event and placed in the top three in their category were invited back to compete again for the honor of being crowned Overall Champion in their category. Students from Biscontini’s Dancer’s Warehouse in Taylor, attended the championships and came home with more than $4,000 in cash and trophies and 34 top honors in seven dance forms and age ranges from 6 to 18. The students competed in solos, duets, group and line competition.

Dance schools from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were in attendance. Stacey Biscontini, owner of Biscontini’s Dancer’s Warehouse, won the Teacher Award for the Junior Company Tap. The students listed below were all honored as being the Overall Champions either as soloists, duets, trios or as a member of a group at the championships. The group Jr. Dance Force received Top Award for their jazz performance and won $1,000. Extreme Dance Force received Top Award for their jazz performance and won $1,000. Sr. Company received Top Award for their tap performance and won the Entertainment Award for their pantomime performance and won $2,000 total. Many soloists/duets/trios from Dancer’s Warehouse also took home the top award in their division with their ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip hop, novelty and pantomime routines. Sr. Dance Force also received Top Award for their tap.

Gene Biscontini received a special four-foot trophy, sash, crown, banner and a $500 savings for receiving the highest score for a soloist at the competition in his age division. He also won Entertainer of the Year Award.
