The Arts at First Presbyterian concert series will present a concert entitled “Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord” as the third event of the 2009-2010 season. This event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 School St., Clarks Summit, and will feature the Adult and Teen vocal choirs, Adult and Teen bell choirs, Children’s Choir, and Music with Friends (church orchestra) of the First Presbyterian Church. The church’s music program is directed by Susan Kelly, one of the area’s most respected choral directors. Susan is also the Director of Choirs at Abington Heights High School, the Director of Children’s and Youth programs of The Choral Society of NEPA, conductor of its Cantare Choir, and a member of the highly acclaimed 8-voiceprofessional vocal ensemble, The Lyric Consort. She will conduct the Adult and Teen vocal choirs in this program. Other directors include Dick Cochrane (bell choirs, church orchestra) and Connie Weiss (Children’s Choir).

The concert will include a variety of selections including Brahms “How Lovely is thy Dwelling Place,” the spirituals “Elijah Rock” and “I’m So Glad Jesus Lifted Me,” Clausen’s “Set Me as a Seal” and “People of God Rejoice,” a selection for choir and bells.
Other featured artists will include soprano Jessica Hitchcock and the Baker-Weiss quartet.
