Special exhibits are “Past vs. Present: Vintage Quilts vs. Reproduction Fabrics of Today”, “Children’s Quilts: exhibit and workshop” and special feature of quilt member Betty Ball: Quilt Retrospective. The raffle quilt, “Peek-a-Boo Basket,” is twin size, hand-appliquéd and hand quilted, including three matching pillows. Tickets cost $1.00.
Show judges, Stacy Koehler and Phyllis Manley, are National Quilting Association certified judges. Quilts will be judged in thirteen categories divided by techniques. Awards include first, second and third in each category, “Judge’s Choice” and “Best in Show.”
In addition, the show offers a merchant mall, boutique table, silent auction and sewing machine raffle. Quilting demonstrations will take place throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is the following for both days:
Saturday and Sunday
10 a.m. Paper Piecing: traditional method, when it’s done correctly blocks areperfect every time, no matter how small their patches are.
10:30 a.m.Folded Fabric and Prairie Points: folded triangles for decoration or edging of a quilt
12 p.m. Paperless, Paper Piecing:
12:30 p.m. Binding: Tips to create the perfect binding
1 p.m. All Wrapped up: How to make coiled fabric bowls
1:30 p.m. Painting on Fabrics
2:00 Crayon Quilts: Crayon quilts are easy family and classroom projects and a great way to get your children involved.
2:30 Electric Quilts: Quilt Design Software
3:00 Quilt Piecing, Square up!
Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Visitors can experience the talented craft of quilting and we invite everyone to stop by and learn a new skill and examine the talents of many local quilters. Food and refreshments are available for purchase in the
