Since 1998, the Junior League of Scranton has annually recognized a woman from northeastern
The award named in her honor is to be given to “a deserving woman who demonstrates the vision of a leader and the capacity to inspire and motivate others to make more of themselves and the community they serve,” according to club documents.
Regina Boehm, wife of Keystone College President Edward G. Boehm Jr. Boehm is touted, by those who nominated her, for her role in various community organizations including the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, The Boys and Girls Club of Scranton, The Northeast Theatre and the Scranton Community Concerts series.
The award is accompanied by a $1,000 grant, which Boehm said she will designate to Keystone’s Service Learning group, a collection of students who regularly head into the community to donate hours of service.
“I’m overwhelmed and honored that they (the Junior League of Scranton) would think of me,” Boehm said. “It inspires me to get back into the community because there’s much more left to do.”
