Restaurants compete for ‘Best Wings’

The 13th Annual Pocono Chicken Wing-Off is slated for Sunday, August 10 from noon until 4 p.m. on the Great Lawn at Fernwood Hotel and Resort located on Route 209 in Bushkill. The event will pit the leading regional wing restaurants against each other vying for the title of “best.” Winners in four categories will submit their wing entry for Hottest, Chef’s Choice, People’s Choice and Most Original, and for their efforts will receive a check for $250 sponsored by ESSA Bank, RCI, Whitebriar Financial, and Stone, Trembly and Associates, Inc.

There will be live entertainment by Jimmy Brown, the Pepsi play area, and over 35 kinds of wings to sample and vote as best wing for 2008. Festival attendees pay as they go for wings, beverages and other food. Proceeds from wing tickets sold go to Meals on Wheels who are celebrating their 36th year of meal delivery in 2008. With the help of almost 300 volunteers, Monroe County Meals on Wheels delivers meals to the homebound who are physically or mentally unable to prepare meals for themselves.
