‘Home for the Holidays’ Open House weekend

Retail participants for “Home for the Holidays” Open House weekend, Nov. 27 to 29, are shown, from left: Francene Dudziec of Monogram Muse, Barry Kaplan of Everything Natural, Lisa Akulonis of Citizens Savings Bank, Sonia Wysochanski of Kidazzle/The Drapery Shop and Dana Oliver of Ambience Wallcovering. Absent from photo: Kids Quality, Paulette’s Pretty Purses, Sanderson State Street Salon, Sole to Soul and Woods and Company. On Thanksgiving weekend, the Abington Business and Professional Association, which hosts the event, suggested a visit to Clarks Summit and the Abingtons for shopping needs, to buy local for the most unique gifts and to sleep in on Black Friday. Enter at these locations for a chance to win a $250 shopping spree courtesy of Penn Security Bank; four other winners will also receive four $25 gift certificates for Pets Supplies “Plus” Dickson City Location. On Saturday, Nov. 28, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus as they roam the streets and visit participating shops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop by the Clarks Summit Borough Building beginning at 1 p.m. and have your purchases wrapped for free while enjoying a community bake sale and some hot beverages. At 4 p.m., bring children to make edible ornaments to decorate the town tree for the animals to enjoy while listening to a holiday story with the Abington Community Library. The annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by the Summit Singers of Summit Baptist Bible Church. The winner of the annual coloring contest flips the switch and lights up the town. The event is sponsored by The Abington Journal, The Abington Suburban and Community Bank and Trust
