Clinton Township and Factoryville Borough Joint Municipal Park and Recreation Board meeting, Wednesday, July 2 at 7 p.m., in the Factoryville Public library, located in the back of the Borough Hall building at 161 College Avenue. Public welcome. Agenda includes planning for construction of shed building and upcoming soccer season.

Annual Abington Rotary Fireworks, Thursday, July 3, Abington Heights Middle School grounds. Rain date, Saturday, July 5. The display is slated to begin at 9:15 p.m. Cost: Free.

BBQ Chicken Diner, sponsored by St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Jermyn. Saturday, July 5, noon to 3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Center, eat in or take out. Cost: $9, a limited number of tickets to be sold at the door. Info: 876-1456.

Countryside Community Church, first official combined service, Sunday, July 6, 10 a.m., Newton United Methodist Church. Newton will be the interim location for parishioners until a land and church have been secured. The new church, was formed from congregations of the Ransom, Newton, Milwaukee and Schultzville United Methodist Churches. The service will highlight the new pastor, J.P. Benefit for Jimmy Johnson, July 6, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Johnson was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in July 2007. Hosted at the Nicholson Carnival Grounds, includes pig roast, face painting, hamburgers, dunk tank, hot dogs and more.
