Dear Editor,
MetroAction, a local non-profit community development organization, is happy to announce to the community that its 2007/2008 Annual Report is now available for viewing on our web site at www.MetroAction.org.
Since its inception in 1977, MetroAction has been devoted to stimulating the local economy by offering small business loans, training, counseling and business development assistance. Over the past 30 years, MetroAction has stayed committed to its vision of community prosperity by lending more than $2.5 million to small start-up businesses, as well as to already existing small businesses within northeastern Pennsylvania.
MetroAction proudly serves eight counties within the region. They include: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming Counties. Some examples of the work that MetroAction has done this year within Lackawanna County are as follows:
MetroAction helped five Lackawanna County businesses obtain $60,000 in financing; MetroAction provided $500 grants through its Child Care MicroGrant program to Little Acres Learning Center, Little People West, Stepping Stones Play and Learning Center, Sutton Playhouse and United Neighborhood Centers Bellevue Center for Projects that will improve the quality of child care for more than 240 children; MetroAction hosted a number of seminars and programs to help entrepreneurs, such as the Small Business Institute, the Diversity Entrepreneur Forum and Doing Business with the Commonwealth, among others.
As you can see, the past year has been an extremely successful one for MetroAction and the various businesses that it has helped. MetroAction continues to stay committed to the mission of helping small businesses within northeastern Pennsylvania grow and prosper.
