Dr. Caroline Marianne Coffey

Dr. Caroline Marianne Coffey of Ithaca, formerly of Clarks Green died Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

Born June 20, 1980 in Dublin, Ireland, she was the daughter of Michael and Patricia Malley Coffey of Clarks Green.  She attended Our Lady of Peace School, was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, the University of Scranton, where she received a degree in Biology, and Cornell University, where she received her PhD in Medical Sciences.  She was a Assistant Professor at St. Joseph’s University and was currently doing Post Doctoral Research at Cornell University.

All who knew Caroline growing up through high school and college knew of her love for horses.  An accomplished rider, she was the captain of the University of Scranton Equestrian Team.  Caroline was extremely proud of her Irish heritage.  Her passion to see the world was always in her foresight and her most recent travels included trips to Costa Rica, Bolivia and Poland.  In her short life, she lived a lifetime.  Caroline touched many lives, both here and around the world.

Also surviving is a brother, Paul, of Lansdale.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, N. Abington Rd., Clarks Green by Msgr. John Louis, Pastor.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
