“Lewis ‘Lewy Bear’ Black was a special man who lived in Waverly, PA. Lewy LOVED teddy bears and even more, he LOVED little kids!! This bear was donated in memory of Lewy Black and comes to you with LOVE and HUGS!!!” Each child who receives a Lewy Bear reads this message attached to the bear.
Marge Black, wife of the late Lewis Black said, “The fundraiser doesn’t always run the same month every year, but it does run every year.” This year marked the 8th annual “Lewy Bear Drive.” Black said donations collected in the most recent drive were delivered to local Fire Departments, Friendship House, Ronald McDonald House, St. Joseph’s Center and The Waverly Community House.
The next drive is scheduled for spring of 2009. For more information call 586-8191, ext. 2.
