First National Bank, 125 N. State St., was host location and is the presenting sponsor for the seventh annual event which will be held Feb. 17 through 21 in the greater Abington area. More than 60 ice sculptures will be featured at the event and created by Sculpted Ice Works, Lakeville. Complimentary activities, entertainment and offerings will be available throughout the free event.
Each year, old man winter blows an icy blast of creative inspiration into the team of ice carvers at Sculpted Ice Works. These professionals create Crystal Cabin Fever, an indoor, interactive display. And this year’s theme is the Caribbean in ice.

As part of the Abington Business and Professional Association sixth annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice, a Family Fun Fest, sponsored by Times Leader Scranton Edition, will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Clarks Summit Borough Building, 304 S. State Street. The first floor will be converted into the “Big Top Caf�,” with snacks and games, along with entertainers including DJ Frankie Carll, theatrical clowns, juggler Rob Smith, a Times Leader photo booth and coronation of Ringmaster contest winners. Second floor will feature storyteller Chris Arcangelo, complimentary face painting by Happy Faces and make-it-take-it crafts hosted by local Girl Scouts.
As part of the sixth annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice, a Ringmaster Contest was held, sponsored by Penn Security Bank and media sponsor The Abington Journal. Ringmasters will each receive a $100 savings bond from the bank. A coronation will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7:45 p.m. at the Clarks Summit Borough Building, 304 S. State Street for contest winners, Grace Okrepkie, 9, and Faith Bennett, 5, both of Clarks Summit. Penn Security Bank made an addition monetary donation to the festival.
The First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit will host events during the Clarks Summit Ice Festival, which will take place on Feb. 13 and 14. The church is located at 300 School St. in downtown Clarks Summit, one block off State Street at Stone Avenue.

Parking: Keystone College in La Plume will provide the festival parking shuttle service. The shuttle will assist visitors in traveling to various locations during the festival to view ice sculptures located throughout the Abingtons. Parking for the shuttle will be available at both the Clarks Summit Elementary School and South Abington Elementary School on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The shuttle will take visitors to one of four other stops. ABINGTONS - When the cold winds and bitter chills of winter carry into February, many long for the first sign of spring to emerge. But for one weekend this month, the businesses and personalities involved with the Abington Business and Professional Association invite the public to enjoy the frosty climate, as the sixth annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice gets underway.
Local pianist Wayne Smith will be serving something for every musical taste when he takes stage at Paulette’s Pretty Purses on Sunday, Feb. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. as part of the Festival of Ice.
Part of the appeal of the Clarks Summit Festival of Ice is it offers area residents exposure to groups and performers they otherwise may have not had the opportunity to see.
Over the years, Abington residents have become familiar with musician Marko Marcinko. Whether playing with his band Music for Models or the Marko Marcinko Jazz Quartet, the Scranton resident has become a fixture in the Clarks Summit area music scene.
An evening reception was hosted by the Abington Business and Professional Association Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Nichols Village Hotel and Spa in Clarks Summit as a thank you to sponsors, participants and community volunteers participating in the sixth annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice.
