Tunkhannock maintains ‘No Pass, No Play’ policy

Tunkhannock Area School District will continue to adhere to their current extracurricular eligibility policy. On November 20, the district’s board of education shot down a motion to reinstate Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) eligibility rules for extracurricular activities.

Brunch held as part of ABPA Open House; Tree lighting set for November 22

The Abington Business and Professional Association hosted its annual Holiday Open House this past weekend. A tree lighting at the clock tower of Downtown Clarks Summit was rescheduled due to inclement weather and will be held this Saturday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m.

Free seminar to discuss development costs

The Scranton-Abingtons Planning Association (SAPA) invites you to attend a free seminar about the costs of development on Tuesday, Nov. 25. This seminar, led by Dr. Tim Kelsey of Pennsylvania State University, is designed to help local elected officials and planners predict the true costs and revenues associated with different kinds of development.

Factoryville marks 125 years

The borough of Factoryville turns 125, and on November 12, Pennsylvania state Sen. Lisa Baker, R-Lehman, presented Factoryville’s council members with a plaque honoring the borough’s anniversary.

Dalton welcomes new councilman

The Borough of Dalton welcomes a brand new member to its council. On November 13, Mayor Mary Jane Peters swore in Patrick Walsh, a lifelong resident of the borough who resides in Dalton with his mother, Nancy.

Factoryville sewer authority may take action

FACTORYVILLE– Clinton Township Joint Municipal Sewer Authority may soon have to take action against residents who are behind on their sewer bills.

Clarks Green discusses recent burglaries

CLARKS GREEN- At the November meeting of the Clarks Green Borough Council, the police report included warnings about an increase in residential burglaries in Clarks Green and Clarks Summit. Police reported four burglaries in Clarks Summit and one in Clarks Green, with two of the Clarks Summit robberies taking place recently. The items stolen from the homes included jewelry and cash.

BBC helps the community

On November 4, students at Baptist Bible College observed Community Appreciation Day. One group of students gave back to the community by helping out Factoryville Shade Tree Commission. Headed by sophomore Mike Kapottos, eight students, along with Factoryville Shade Tree members Liz Ratchford and Shirley Golembeski and borough council members Tom Davis and Tony Laidlaw, worked together to spruce up Mathewson Terrace.

South Abington looks into liquor license

SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - Supervisors Monday evening, Nov. 10, looked into concerns over a liquor license requested by the owners of 1110 Edella Road, a business under construction known as the “Pony Express.”

WAVERLY - Maria Wilson, Executive Director at The Waverly Community House, said events like the holiday wreathmaking tradition at the Comm have been going on for longer than she can remember.

TUNKHANNOCK - On the day I was to experience a taste of the life of a salt truck and snow plow driver, I arrived at the main PennDOT Wyoming County facility in Tunkhannock at 9:30 a.m. and was greeted by my partner for the day--Mark Johnson.
