ABINGTON TWP. - A concern about wood burners usage in the township was raised at the 7 p.m. Monday, June 30 meeting of the Abington Township supervisors.

Chuck Copley, of the planning commission, suggested prohibiting outdoor wood burners might be a good amendment to the existing ordinance. The board said that the topic will be further reviewed at the next meeting.

Another concern Copley raised involved a private driveway in the area. Copley said that there is a restriction of the number of homes that can be built adjacent to a private driveway. Copley said he feels building excessively on private driveways should be discouraged.

Also during the meeting, a new web site for Abington Township was in discussion. The current system to help set up the web site is Squarespace. “It has a lot of features we don’t have now. It can be edited by the township when we want it to be,” William H. White, Township Manager said.

Squarespace allows uses to host up to 15 pages on web sites. White said the site could also include “blogs, forums, file sharing, picture galleries, maps, discussion sessions, a guest book and instant messaging.” Anyone interested in viewing examples of web sites hosted by Squarespace can visit www.squarespace.com.

In other news, a computer system replacement is underway for Abington Township. The project is estimated to cost $2,900 as the board announced for the projects initial proposal cost.

An executive session took place after the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting of the Abington Township supervisors will take place on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m.
