Antique cars ride through Dalton

Nick DeLorenzo Abington Journal Correspondent

Faye and Mike Kostelnik of the Dalton Fire Company are avid car enthusiasts, and they aren’t alone in that interest. Three years ago they decided to share their love of classic vehicles with the community by putting together the first Antique Car Parade, sponsored by the Fire Company, and it’s been an attraction ever since. Last year, the Dalton Fire Company’s annual parade played host to more than 35 antique, classic, and special interest vehicles.

The parade is coming back to Dalton this year, and the turnout is expected to be even greater. “People really love to see the classic cars”, said Faye of the event. “They line the streets; there really seems to be a great enthusiasm for the whole thing.” Faye and Mike are the co-chairs for the event and own a number of classic vehicles, including several antique Ford Trucks, a 1979 Mercury Cougar, and a 1964 Ford Galaxy. The parade, which will take place on Wednesday, July 8, starts at Huntington Woods development at 6:30pm, and will proceed down Main Street to the carnival grounds, where cars will be placed in a ‘car corral’, where people can view the cars. The first 50 people to enter will receive “goodie bags” which include vouchers for some of the stands at the carnival. Anyone that would like to attend is welcome, and there is no charge for admission.
