With Wednesday marking the first day that prospective recruits could sign a binding letter of intent to accept a scholarship from a Division I school, Conaboy wasted no time in making his commitment to the Terrapins official. Surrounded by his parents, grandfather, and siblings, Conaboy put his pen to paper in the field house at Abington Heights High School shortly after 9 a.m. Also present were Abington Heights High school administrators, as well as athletic director Scott Kaiser and head football coach Joe Repshis.

" Almost as soon as I walked onto the campus at Maryland,  I knew it was the place for me" Conaboy said of his decision to attend the school. "The family atmosphere of the students, faculty, and football program were amazing. Once I visited several other schools, I realized just how much I liked Maryland.

"It's a great feeling to be able to make a commitment like this. I dreamed about it when I was little, but you never really imagine it happening until now."

Conaboy's comments were reinforced by his head coach Joe Repshis, who praised Conaboy's maturity and professionalism during the recruiting process.

"We are very excited for Sal- two years ago we sat down and asked him to change positions, and he responded amazingly well" Repshis said of his standout offensive lineman. "We sat down again at the start of his recruiting process and discussed everything that would happen with it. He made the decision that was best for him academically and athletically, and we are all very proud of him."

After playing in the prestigious Big 33 Football Classic this summer, Conaboy will head to College Park to join a Maryland program that went 2-10 last season, with a 1-7 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play.  Intending to major in Criminal Justice, Conaboy says he will play either guard or center for the Terrapins.
