Amongst the dishes Armetta’s hopes to bring is ziti with sun-dried tomatoes, per request of Rotary Club of the Abingtons member Leah Ducato Rudolph.

One and a half years into serving lunch, Armetta’s Restaurant and Pizzeria features two floors, 100 beers with dine-in and take-out specials and hours of Tuesday though Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In regard to the lettering on Armetta’s outdoor sign, owner Lisa Armetta said “Some days we don’t change it, someday we leave it out there…everyone provides us with inspiration for it.”

Daily lunch and dinner specials are featured and Armetta said, “Everything is homemade.”

“Dinners are made to order, fresh baked dough everyday,” Armetta said.

“Both of her (Rudolph’s) daughters, years ago worked for me and she said she was going to call me and try to convince me (to attend the Taste of the Abingtons event),” Armetta said, in reference to a conversation she had with Rudolph.

“I don’t know why we never did it before, I really don’t,” Armetta said

The 20 anniversary is coming up this fall during the week of Thanksgiving for Armetta’s Restaurant and Pizzeria. A weeklong celebration is in the works. “We’re still working on it; we put the feelers out to some local bands.”

Even if we reach some customers that we never had before, there can’t be any harm in that,” said Armetta, who will be attending the Taste of the Abingtons on Sunday, September 21 with daughter Christina, 17 and enough food to feed the 350 that Rudolph told her to anticipate.

Armetta’s Restaurant and Pizzeria can be reached at 586-5492, for more information.

The Terrace Garden Caf at Greystone Gardens in Clarks Summit, which closed for a few years, just re-opened in April of 2008, said Margi Cowley.

The restaurants hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday though Sunday. “We do a high tea here and private parties here, we do a lot of showers,” Cowley said. On Sunday, August 24, the Terrace Garden Caf at Greystone Gardens in Clarks Summit, held its first birthday party, a Sweet 16.

“We were really excited when they (Rotary) called us to do the Taste of the Abingtons,” Cowley said.

“I originally started as a caterer and I was catering from here, then Paul (Epsom, of Greystone Gardens) asked me to open the restaurant. So then we opened the restaurant.” Cowley said. The catering company, Cutting Edge Catering, which provides everything from homemade sandwiches to homemade desserts, will be featured at the Taste of the Abingtons.

A dish The Terrace Garden hopes to bring is, “A beautiful chicken dish with a grapefruit cream sauce with pink peppercorn,” Cowley said. “It’s a very delicious chicken dish, but it’s also really pretty.”

“At one point, this was a seasonal restaurant, only open in the summer,” Cowley said. “We plan on being open year round.”
