Girl Scout Troops 48 and 73, the Factoryville Shade Tree Commission, and the Factoryville Fire Company, along with residents and friends, celebrated the start of the holiday season by decorating and lighting the borough Christmas Tree on Saturday, December 5.
About two dozen members of the girl scouts spent a snowy Saturday afternoon making and hanging pinecone birdseed ornaments for the 20-foot blue spruce in front of the Factoryville borough hall.
Members of the Factoryville Shade Tree Commission decorated the tree with strands of LED Christmas lights, considered safer and more energy-efficient than traditional Christmas lights.
Santa Claus was escorted to the event by members of the Factoryville fire company led by Chief Russ Gow to light the tree and kick off the holiday festivities.
With snow falling, cookies and hot chocolate, and the scouts singing carols, it was a beautiful start to the holiday season.
On Sunday, December 6, crews from the Brown Hill Tree Company, along with members of the Factoryville Men’s Civic Club, hung the borough Christmas lights and banners on the utility poles along College Avenue.
On Sunday, December 13, there will be Breakfast with Santa at the Factoryville fire hall from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Adults $ 7.00 and Children $ 4.00.
Then, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Santa Claus will ride throughout the borough streets escorted by members the Factoryville fire company distributing goodies to the neighborhood children.
