A fire that broke out on Friday, Feb. 20 at Milestone Ranch, 200 Rd. Scott Township, was contained within the chimney of the residential section of the building. The fire caused smoke damage to the building with no injuries being reported. “It was a fairly quiet incident. The owner of the restaurant is taking care of the residents there,” said Charlotte Wright, Director of Community Affairs for the Red Cross of Lackawanna County. At press time, efforts were unsuccessful to reach Justus Fire Chief, who had responded at the scene.
A previous fire on the same day occurred at 1:30 a.m., consuming a trailer in Madisonville Township and displacing a family of three. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but may have been caused by a wood burner, Wright said. First responders to the incident were Station 7 from Moscow, Goldsboro Station 55, Covington Station 14 and Madison Station 56.
“We are assisting with shelter, food and clothing,” Wright said, “The community is taking care of them as well which is great.”
At press time, efforts to reach Madisonville Fire Chief Emerson were unsuccessful.
