Those who have served in the military should bring proof of service and can choose from the $6 to $10 automatic car wash options between noon and 4 p.m.
Veterans can choose touch-free or soft-touch automatic bays. The $10 “ultimate” choice features soaking, undercarriage cleaning, triple foam and blow-drying. The offer is limited to one car wash per veteran.
The free car washes are part of a national campaign, Grace For Vets, that Johnny’s owner Nancy Luciani Nealon said she read about in a car wash publication.
The Grace For Vets campaign has encouraged car wash locations to honor veterans since 2004 with free car washes across the nation.
Grace For Vets provides participating car washes with tools and materials for a day of free washes for veterans.
Johnny’s Car Wash has been in Scranton since 2007.
“It’s our first year doing this, but we think that it’s important to honor the veterans,” she said. “With all that they’ve done and sacrificed for us, we thought that it was a great way to honor them.”
According to Grace For Vets Web site, graceforvets.org, 228 companies with more than 500 car wash locations in 44 states will participate this year. Johnny’s the only car wash in Northeastern Pennsylvania participating in the program.
