Lakeland School District schedules activities for the opening of the 2009-10 school year

Dr. Margaret Billings-Jones, Superintendent of the Lakeland School District, has released the scheduled activities for the opening of the 2009-10 school year. 

All district faculty will report to the Lakeland Junior Senior High School on Monday, August 31, at 8 a.m. Meetings and activities for the day will conclude at 3:05 p.m. 

Students will report for classes on Tuesday, September 1. All students grades 7 to 12 will report to their first period class.

The 2009-10 time schedule for teachers and students is as follows:

Mayfield and Lakeland Elementary Schools


8 a.m.     Teachers Arrive
3:15 p.m.     Teachers Depart

8:05 a.m.     Students Arrive
3:02 p.m.     Students Depart

Lakeland Jr. Sr. High School

7:30 a.m.     Teachers Arrive
2:45 p.m.     Teachers Depart

7:35 a.m.     Students Arrive
2:40 p.m.     Students Depart

Any parent with a child residing in the Lakeland School District who has not yet registered in the Lakeland School District is reminded that student registration should be completed prior to the start of the school year. Health and immunization records must be presented at the time of registration. No child can be admitted to school without the proper health and immunization records in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations. 

Cafeteria services will be open on the first day of school. The school breakfast is $1 for students, reduced cost is $.30 cents. School lunch is $1.70 reduced cost $.40 cents and milk $.45 cents. 

Students are reminded to dress in accordance with the school uniform policy. All junior-senior high school students will receive a Parent/Student Handbook the first day of school. Parents are encouraged to read the handbook and discuss the information contained in the handbook with their child. 

Bus schedules will be published in The Abington Journal along with other area newspapers.
