The Wayne County Builders Association has launched an effort to alert all local homebuilders about a new law going into effect on July 1, which will require home-improvement contractors to register with the state Attorney General’s office to continue doing business in Pennsylvania.
Contractors doing more than $5,000 of home improvement work annually will receive a registration number that must be displayed on their contracts, promotional materials and business cards. Consumers then will be able to use this number to learn if complaints have been filed against a business and to report any concerns they have with a home improvement project.
In unison with the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA), the Wayne County Builders Association is developing and distributing educational materials to its members to walk them step-by-step through the state registration process.
During the next few months, the Wayne County Builders Association will be educating its builder-members about the requirements of the new law. Contractors who are not members should consider joining the Wayne County Builders Association as a cost-effective tool for gaining access to the information they’ll need to be successful under the new registration law.
