McCain emerged from the plane at 9:03 p.m. and was escorted from the airport by Pennsylvania State Police at 9:06 p.m.

The presumptive Republican candidate for the office of the President of the United States will appear at a town hall meeting at the F.M. Kirby Center in downtown Wilkes-Barre at 10 a.m. Doors open to the public at 8 a.m.

Following the town hall meeting, McCain will hold a news conference. He is also scheduled to attend a fund raiser luncheon at the Westmoreland Club on South Franklin Street. Plates at the luncheon cost $250 per person.

Sherwood Grabiec, of Avoca, along with his wife, Valerie, and 12-year-old son, Gregory, were part of a small group of people who came to the Avoca airport to catch a glimpse of McCain.

"It's history," Grabiec said when asked why he came to the airport Tuesday evening. "Our state is traditionally important in Presidential races. This area is very important for McCain." The Senator returned waves from the Grabiec family as he left the airport.

Grabiec added that he also visited the airport for visits of past Democratic candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton and presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama.
