New restaurants set to open

While the Abingtons may already be noted as a place for culinary adventures, local residents and visitors will soon have two new options for their dining enjoyment.

Now open at 611 South State Street is Nickies Fabulous Hoagies, the third location for the local hoagie chain. Just down the road, the opening of Charlie’s Pub & Eatery, located in the former Bennigan’s establishment at 821 Northern Boulevard, is finally on track for liftoff.

Having launched the latest location this past weekend, the staff at Nickies Fabulous Hoagies hopes to bring their own unique flavor to their home area. The father-son duo of Thomas and Eric Parry, residents of the Abingtons, are eager to bring the same great tastes to their own neighborhood that they have enjoyed success with at their two Scranton locations. Offering a full selection of freshly-made cold hoagies, as well as a daily hot hoagie and a soup of the day, the menu is always offering something for hungry patrons.

“We didn’t advertise much before our opening because we were so eager to get this thing going,” Eric said of the shop’s first week. “We’ve had a really great response so far.”

Meanwhile, new restaurateur owner Ed Mozdziock is just as excited about the possibilities for his new restaurant, Charlie’s Pub & Eatery. Having named the establishment after his son’s pet terrier, Mozdziock is set to offer a full and creative menu to patrons upon opening on December 8. Mozdziock said his restaurant has completed hiring its staff of approximately 40 employees, after receiving more than 240 applications. A menu has been finalized, which he claims will offer everything from burgers to salads to filet mignon, as well as a children’s menu.

“We’ve got a great chef and a full menu with a little bit of everything,” Mozdziock said of his plans for the opening. “We’ve added a number of new TV sets around the bar and restaurant as well.”
