Nichols Village opens door to changes

SOUTH ABINGTON TWP.– Nichols Village Hotel and Spa, 1101 Northern Blvd., S. Abington Twp., is making strides to be more of a destination than a hotel and its staff wants to show the community the progress.

The Presidential Suite at Nichols Village Hotel and Spa includes two queen beds and a courtyard patio.

In a promotion that runs through March, the hotel is offering a chance to win $20,000 just for touring the facility. The tour will include the renovated spaces that were included in phase one of a multi-million dollar project, as well as a look at the plans to come.

The promotion is a way for the campus-like boutique hotel which has been in business since the 1940s to show the changes and upgrades the property is undergoing.

“We feel like the best- kept secret in town,” said Sharon Carfora, director of special events.

“We don’t want to be a secret,” added Angela Alfonso, general manager.

The first round of renovations updated all 104 guest rooms. The upgrades included new bedding, state-of-the-art wireless internet, 32- inch flat-screen televisions and refrigerators.

Renovations were also done to the corridors and started in the hotel lobby.

Upgrades across the campus are slated to begin this month.

“Pending any delays, we expect work to begin in the next two weeks,” said Alfonso.

In phase two, which will be completed in late January, work will be done on the meeting rooms, public restrooms and ballroom, as well as outside features like walls and balconies.

The Evergreen building, to the right of Bazil Ristorante Italiano, will now feature 11 suites and a full salon, health and medi-spa.

The renovations and addition of the spa will make the Inn at Nichols Village even more of a wedding destination, according to Carfora. The exterior renovations will provide opportunities for outdoor ceremonies, whereas in the past the facility only held outdoor cocktail hours.
