Oh, say can you see... the fireworks?

Abington Heights Middle School, Clarks Summit, Thursday, July 3 presented by Rotary Club of the Abingtons:

Hollis Hoban was named the winner of The Abington Journal’s recent patriotic photo contest.



5:30 p.m. Food, beverages, and other items will be available for purchase

Dusk: fireworks display

Rain date, Saturday, July 5. A $2 charge per car helps defray expenses, so visitors are asked to use the lots provided.

Central Park, Honesdale, Thursday, July 3:

Old-fashioned games for kids with prizes for everyone, hot dogs, cheesesteaks, ice cream, novelties and three bands, sponsored by the Wayne County Creative Arts Council.

Bands will entertain until dusk when the Greater Honesdale Partnership will sponsor a fireworks display.

5 p.m. The Ancient Fife and Drum Corps will open the events.

5:30 p.m. The Pharm will keep the ball rolling with their blend of eclectic style and harmony.

6:30 p.m. Doug Smith and his Dixieland All Stars will continue the festivities with their New Orleans style of “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and some patriotic tunes as well.

8 p.m. Crystal Band of Scranton celebrating their 129th anniversary.

In the case of inclement weather, the celebrations will be moved to Monday, July 7

Dansbury Park, East Stroudsburg, Friday, July 4:

2 p.m. to 10 p.m. non-profit business development association of East Stroudsburg, presents the 5th Annual “American Freedom Festival” .

New this year, “Kids Kingdom” featuring art projects, coloring, sidewalk chalk, bean mosaics and more. Hear the sounds of various live Pocono Mountain musicians. There will be amusement rides for the children (at a nominal fee), scrumptious culinary midway, artisans, exhibits, face painters, magicians, jugglers, clowns, old fashioned games, a watermelon -eating contest, a 5k run, Olympic- sized swimming pool, complete with kiddie pool and water slides.

Admission is free for the entire daylong celebration, focusing on “Freedom, Family, Food, Fun and Fireworks.”

Yankees vs. Syracuse, Scranton, Friday, July 4:

7 p.m. PNC Field Post Game Fireworks will take place.

Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre, Friday, July 4:

Noon food, craft vendors and amusements open.

7 p.m. Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic performance, presented by the Martz Group, The Times Leader and the Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau

Dusk: Fireworks display

No dogs allowed at firework display

Lake Wallenpaupack, Hawley, Friday, July 4:

Noon: annual 4th of July parade steps off on Main Avenue

2 p.m. Fun and games throughout town as Hawley’s First Friday begins early, themed “On the Boardwalk,” continuing through 7 p.m.

4 p.m. Live jazz music on the deck at Settlers Inn to 7 p.m., a wine and cheese reception at the Artisan Gallery on Main Avenue, hot sauce tasting and various other activities at Penny Lane Candies and Candles on Church St., and other specials and sales at businesses throughout town all day.

7 p.m. Parking will be available in the High School parking lots and the bleachers will be open to spectators.

9:15 p.m. This display is fired near the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack, next to the High School. Viewing the fireworks will also be available by boat from the lake, as well. Due to insurance requirements, there will be a 1000 foot restricted area surrounding the firing location.

Rain date for the fireworks is planned for Saturday, July 5.

Marywood University, Scranton, Sunday, July 6:

7:30 p.m. Marywood Festival Band. Lynda Krehbiel-McLain, soprano and Gregg Leigh McLain and Baritone with “Music of Our American Heritage,” with fireworks at the Marywood Memorial Commons.
