Quandel Group selected to renovate Schuylkill County domestic violence center

The Quandel Group Inc., a local construction firm, was recently awarded a contract to manage an addition and renovations project for Schuylkill Women in Crisis, a private non-profit based in Pottsville providing services to victims of domestic violence in Schuylkill County.

As a result of the capital improvements, SWIC will nearly double the capacity of its existing emergency shelter, ensure that the facility is handicapped accessible on all floors and compliant with current code requirements, and incorporate new technologies to improve operating efficiencies.

Renovations to counseling areas for non-resident clients and relocation of the agency’s Administrative Offices and Community Education/Prevention services will also improve privacy for those victims living in shelter.

Construction will begin in March and is expected to be completed in September.
