Based on unofficial election results, with 117 of 163 county precincts reporting, Margaret Bisignani Moyle defeated Republican challenger Frank Castellano in their race for a vacant seat in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, earning 56.18 percent of the vote.

Voters also decided to retain Judge Michael Barrasse (77.27 percent vote in favor of retention) and Judge Terrence Nealon (81.05 percent in favor), according to unofficial results Tuesday evening.
Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty has been elected to a third term with 63.2 percent of the vote.
Doherty was being challenged by longtime political opponent Gary DiBileo through a write-in campaign.
Democrats Pat Rogan, Frank Joyce and Janet Evans secured a combined 69.41 percent of the vote to sweep Scranton City Council and eliminate Republicans Lee Morgan and Doug Miller.
In the Abingtons, Roy Davis, Gerrie Carey and Patrick Williams have been elected to four-year unexpired terms on Clarks Summit Borough Council.
Davis gained 29.31 percent of the vote as of 11:13 p.m., and Carey received 26.75 percent. Each ran on both Democrat and Republican tickets. Williams, who ran on the Democrat ticket, had 23.64 percent of the vote from those precincts reporting.
Barbara Grabfelder, who ran on both party tickets, was unopposed in her race for a two-year unexpired term and gained 98.7 percent of the vote.
In Clarks Green, Jill Shanrock gained the highest percentage of votes, 23.55, for a seat on borough council. She was followed by Todd Zimmerman with 22.98 percent of the vote and V. Gerard Alberigi with 20.21 percent.
