CLARKS SUMMIT - The Clarks Summit Festival of Ice’s “Ice under the Big Top” events will feature a live clown car, thanks to a competition called the Clown Car College, sponsored by the Abington Business and Professional Association (ABPA).
On Feb. 13 at 1 p.m., the Clown Car College challenge will take place at the Clarks Summit Borough building.
Sandy Tielebein, ABPA program coordinator, is actively recruiting teams of between 12 and 20 people to pack themselves into a small car in under four minutes.
“When they told me the theme was ‘Under the Big Top,’ I started thinking about clowns and cramming clowns into cars,” said Tielebein.
Participants must be older than 15 years old and be taller than 5-foot-2-inches to squeeze into the car, which is being loaned to the event by Morgan Highway Auto Parts.
The registration fee is $50 per team and the winning group will earn half the fees.
Tielebein said the event will be “good old- fashioned fun,” and encourages teams to bring supporters and cheerleaders to root for them.
Teams will be asked to fill out “Hold Harmless Agreements” and an emphasis will be placed on safety.
The registration deadline is Feb. 12. Teams are asked to register by calling Sandy Tielebein at 570.586.6622 or 570.687.2156.
