SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - Township supervisors at a Monday, August 25 meeting discussed a handful of matters, including a project to oversee the repair of 800 feet of pipeline along Gravel Pond.

The supervisors announced a bid opening for the Griffin Pond Sewer Replacement Paving Project. The bid will take place on September 18 at 11 a.m.

The council also motioned to approve the purchase of property along Shady Lane Road for the future use of a maintenance facility.

The approval of the Chinchilla Hose Company subdivision and agreement of sale passed unanimously, except Mark T. Dougherty who chose to abstain from the vote due to affiliations with the fire company.

In other developments, the council examined a proposal by the Theta Corporation for the building of a greenhouse, approximately 18 foot by 30 foot, located at the intersection of Scott Road and Oakwood.

The greenhouse is a possible extension to an already existing single structure. No decision was made by the supervisors.

Supervisors also looked into a proposal from Verizon Wireless. The company wishes to install a cellular antenna on power lines along Habeeb Notch.

If approved, the agreement would also allow for a 12 by 30 foot fenced- in area to house and maintain the antenna.

Township manager David O’Neill commented on the issue and said, “I would propose we invite Verizon and PPL to our meeting.”

Other announcements included a groundbreaking ceremony for Penn Security Bank on September 4. The council stated they were still waiting on the approximate time of the event.
