SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - On Friday June 26, an afternoon storm passed through Clarks Summit and surrounding areas. According to area weather reports, the storm was the result of straight-line winds. Shown here are photos taken at 105 Apple Valley Circle, South Abington Township by John Voigt, at the rear of his family’s residence.

Voigt reported that the large tree shown in the photos is an oak that is 5 feet in diameter. Voigt said nine additional trees from 10 inches  to 20 inches diameter were blown down on same property and several large trees on each of two neighbor’s yards were also blown down or torn off above ground.

Voigt said the trees were downed in directions from 62 degrees azimuth (ENE) to 142 degree azimuth (SE) as measured by compass.
