The Wyoming Seminary Upper School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will present a program of traditional American concert band literature and big band music on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Buckingham Performing Arts Center, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston.
The Wyoming Seminary Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, led by Robert Lugiano, will present a program of traditional American concert band and big band music on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Upper School’s Buckingham Performing Arts Center.
The performance is free and open to the public.
The 40-member Wind Ensemble, led by Sem’s Lower School music teacher Robert Lugiano, will perform music by highly regarded American musicians and composers such as Percy Grainger’s “Shepherd’s Hey” and John Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis” March, as well as Frank Tichetti’s “Amazing Grace.”
Lugiano also will lead the 25-member Jazz Ensemble, who will perform a variety of jazz and favorite tunes, such as “Soul Man” from the Blues Brothers soundtrack and George Gershwin’s popular “Someone to Watch Over Me.” The program also will feature student soloists and jazz combos.
This performance is part of the 2008-09 Wyoming Seminary Performing Arts Series. For details, call the Wyoming Seminary Public Relations Office at 270-2190.
