Jane Spangenberg, 97, Factoryville, died July 12, at home. She was the widow of Russell B. Spangenberg, who died in December of 1990. They had been married for 57 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Irwin Wint and Sophia Kyte Severson. She attended Scranton public schools, the Powell School of Business, Scranton, and the Centennary Collegiate Institute, Hacketstown. She was a Secretary at the Scranton Country Club in the early 1930s. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Factoryville United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Fay King, Clarks Summit and Brenda Spangenberg, Factoryville, with whom she resided; two grandchildren, Robyn Armbruster and her husband, Brian, Merritt Island, FL and John King, Clarks Summit, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell The family would like to thank ASERA Care Hospice for their care and support during Jane’s final months. A funeral will be held private at the convenience of the family at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery. Ruth K. Brister, 90, passed away on March 13 at the Shaire Center Nursing Home in Lenoir NC. Ruth was born Aug. 11 1917 to Alma and Rexford Kimble of Clarks Green. She lived most of her life in the Clarks Green, La Plume and Dalton areas until 2005 when she moved to Lenoir, NC to be near her son Joe Brister and family. She graduated from Clarks Summit High School and was a member of Dalton United Methodist Church. Ruth retired from the Ship and Shore Clothing Factory in Nicholson and was later employed by the Dalton Pharmacy for several years before officially retiring from the work force. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred J. Brister; a son, David Brister; a sister, Francis Davis; a brother, Robert Brister and a great-granddaughter, Lenae Shae Goodman. Survivors include her son Joe Brister and wife Pat of Lenoir, NC; daughter-in-law Sharon Brister, Sister Marion Hardy both of Clarks Summit, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Memorial services were to be held March 25 at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, private at the convenience of the family, in Clarks Green Cemetery.
