Alice ‘Nancy’ Marturano

Alice ‘Nancy’ Marturano, 61, of Clarks Summit, died Sunday, June 1, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Wilson and Eleanor Spencer Shoemaker, she was the youngest of nine children and was the faithful wife of John Marturano for 20 years.

She worked for 21 years at Lackawanna County Health Care Center and attended Grace Bible Church of Dunmore. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to entertain and cook, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Surviving children include John Marturano, Kim Snyder and Tina Mooney, all of Clarks Summit, and David Marturano of West Wyoming. Siblings include Wilson Shoemaker, Lakeland, FL, Barbara Ivanish, Lodi, NJ, William Shoemaker, Moosic, James Shoemaker, Waverly, Leslie Shoemaker, Pittston and Thomas Shoemaker, Scranton, along with 11 grandchildren, one great -grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Eleanor Davis and Patrice Montaro.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 6 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, services will be held by Rev. Mark Fitch, assistant pastor of Parker Hill Community Church, Clarks Green. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
