Anna M. Scalfani Monetta, 95, of Dalton, died Thursday, July 10 in St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home. She was the widow of the Joseph Anthony Monetta, who died April 9, 1994. The couple was married for more than 58 years.

Born May 4, 1913, in Manhattan, N.Y., daughter of the late Salvatore and the late Philippa Scalfani, she moved to the Clarks Summit area in 1988 and formerly lived in the Bronx, NY. She was educated in Manhattan schools and was a 1928 graduate of William Pitt Business School. She was formerly employed by Macy’s Department Store as a tube room cashier. She enjoyed the company of her family and spending happy times together. An avid bingo player, she also enjoyed playing cards, especially penny-ante poker. She often had high praise for the attention she received while she was at St. Mary’s Villa. The family expresses its appreciation for the professional and compassionate care the staff of St. Mary’s Villa consistently provided.

Surviving are two sons, Dominic J. Monetta, Washington, D.C. and Joseph J. Monetta and wife, Linda, Dalton; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lorenzo, Salvatore and Carmelo; and four sisters, Giovannina, Sister Rose Mary, of the Sisters of Mercy; Josephine and Rosalia. The funeral was to be held in the Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green, with Mass celebrated by Monsignor John H. Louis. Interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
