Anthony Francis ‘Tony’ Crea

Anthony Francis “Tony” Crea, 78, of Clarks Green, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the home of his daughter. He was the husband of Helen “Candy” Kane, who died June 9, 1998. The couple had been married more than 35 years.

Born Feb. 17, 1931, in Archbald, son of Mary Errigo, Crea Gambini, Archbald and the late Francis Crea, he was a 1959 graduate of Archbald High School, where he was a star basketball player. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Scranton. He was the founder and owner of Crea Cadillac, Scranton. He was a member of the Church of St. Gregory in Clarks Green, Scranton Country Club and Glen Oak Country Club. An athlete, he played basketball in high school and was inducted into the Archbald Hall of Fame, he also played basketball at the University of Scranton. He honorably served in the Army. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.

The family is very grateful for the medical care and treatment provided by Dr. Richard Gratz, Dr. Lisa Thomas, Dr. Terrence Lenahan and Dr. Harmar Brereton.

Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Marla C. Farrell, and husband, Dr. Timothy, Clarks Green and Layne C. Dornblum, and husband, Michael, Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Timmy, Caroline, Grace and Julia Farrell, Clarks Green; a stepbrother, John Gambini Jr. and a stepsister, Gloria Marsili.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Crea.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. by Monsignor John H. Louis in the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Ten. 38101-9929. Arrangements by Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
