Bernice F. Pieczynski

Bernice Frew Pieczynski, 78, a lifelong Pittston resident, died September 21, 2009 in the Hospice Unit of the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, following an illness. She was the widow of Edward Pieczynski, her husband of 52 years, who died on Sept. 18, 2004.

Born and raised in Pittston, a daughter of the late David and Rose Luke Frew, she was a graduate of Pittston High School. Before retirement, she was employed in the area garment industry as a seamstress, and later, by the Pittston Area School District. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and held membership in the ILGWU.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Caroline Collins and Shirley Goldowski.

Surviving are a son, Ed Pieczynski, and wife, Katherine, of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Denise Scanlon, and husband, Joseph, of Pittston; two sisters, Rosemary Cassotti of Old Forge and Geraldine Delconte of Pittston; four grandchildren, Rachel and Jillian Scanlon, and Dan and Shannon Pieczynski; and nieces and nephews, including Dave Roglich of Pittston.

The funeral was Sept. 25 from the Ferri Funeral Home, Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. To leave an online condolence visit www.ferrifuneralhome.com .
