Calvin S. Smith, 75, Dalton, died Monday, August 25, at the Moses Taylor Hospital.

Born March 4, 1933 in N. Abington Twp., he was the son of the late Marshall R. and Eunice Deats Smith. He was first employed as a chemist for Agway in Buffalo for 17 years and later had his own garbage and salvage route before returning to Metso Co. where he again was employed as a chemical engineer for over 10 years. He was a graduate of Keystone College and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a degree in chemistry. He was a member of The Free Methodist Church of Abington where he taught the adult Sunday school class for many years.

Surviving are two sisters, Faye Matthews, N. Abington Twp. and Joan Sickler, Nicholson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall H. Smith and a sister, Elaine Mack, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Carol Chisenhall. Interment will be in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Justus.
