Christina Maria Strain

Christina Maria Trento Strain, 36, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. She and her husband, Jack Strain, would have celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15. Born Aug. 17, 1972, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., she was the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth Fellows Trento, Clarks Summit. Before moving to Clarks Summit in 1991, she resided in East Meadow, N.Y., where she graduated in 1990 from East Meadow High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Scranton in 1994 and obtained a master’s degree in history in 1996, earning honors distinction from the history department. She had been employed for years in her family business, American Plume & Fancy Feather Co., Clarks Summit. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Church. Christina was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend. Her children, family and friends were her life and their happiness was her happiness. She was a loving and kind person who enriched the lives of those who came to know her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm heart and the joy she took in helping others, especially "her girls" from her Girl Scout troop, who remained dear to her heart until the very end. Also surviving are an 8-year-old daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, and 5-year-old twin sons, Jonathan Nathaniel and James Patrick, all at home; a sister, Elizabeth Trento, Fredericksburg, Va.; two brothers, Anthony and Michael Trento, Clarks Summit; maternal grandmother, Yolanda Fellows, and paternal grandmother, Christina Trento, both of Clarks Summit; and in-laws, John Strain Jr. and Lucille (Delia) Strain, Brookhaven. She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Daniel Fellows, on April 1; and paternal grandfather, Anthony Trento Sr., on Aug. 14, 2006.The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Monsignor John H. Louis. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to Girl Scout Troop 140, c/o Kelly Jackson, 600 Maple Ave., Clarks Summit.
