George P. “Pop” Gawrys of Clarks Summit died Sunday, Sept. 7 upon arrival at Moses Taylor Hospital. He was the husband of Carol Gawrys.
He was self-employed as a certified public accountant and self-proclaimed general contractor. A member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Clarks Summit and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he was a social member of the Abington Memorial Post 7069 VFW and other professional organizations. George was cherished by his family and a generous giver to the community. He was a founder of the Our Lady of the Snows-St. Benedict’s Bazaar, where people could always see him running the french fry booth. His family meant everything to him, and he meant everything to his family. He was a source of love, support and help for his family and friends and he was always willing to do whatever he could to help anyone who needed it. He was a wonderful and devoted husband to his loving wife; they were the loves of each other’s lives since they were 11 years old. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. It was impossible for his family and friends to have a bad day when they were around him; he was their sunshine. He was the rock of his family and will be missed beyond words by all who knew him.
