Harold S. Supanek

Harold S. Supanek, 65, of Dryden, NY, died Saturday, June 20, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife of 41 years is the former Lillian Chemchick.

Born Oct. 15, 1943, in Scranton, son of the late John and Ruth Marie Fruehan Supanek, he was a 1961 graduate of Abington Heights High School and was active in sports. He honorably served his country in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Before his illness, he was a printer. He worked in the printing profession for more than 41 years and retired from Vanguard Printing Co., Ithaca, NY, where he was pressroom manager. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed team sports while in school and was later an avid fisherman. He fished in Lake Cayuga, NY, and along Tunkhannock Creek. Taken home at an early age, he will be remembered with laughter and smiles for the happy times. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are a son, Brian Supanek and wife, Patricia “Patty,” Vestal, NY; a daughter, Stefanie Warner and husband, Robert “Rob,” Ithaca, NY; a brother, Joseph Supanek and wife, Molly, Clarks Summit; a sister, Ruth Teresa Tyson and husband, Bill, Calabash, NC; a granddaughter, Ellia Warner, Ithaca, NY; a grandson, Calvin Supanek, Vestal; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Jonathan Supanek, on Feb. 9, 2003.

The funeral was to be Tuesday with Mass in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, private at the convenience of the family, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Snows Building Fund, 301 S.
