Jean Melville

Jean Bichler Melville, of Chinchilla died Saturday morning, Oct. 10, at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She was the widow of Belmont P. Melville who died in 1965.

Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Mamie Curtis Bichler. Prior to her retirement in 2001, she was employed with Nichols Village in Clarks Summit. She was a woman of Methodist faith who cared deeply for her family.

Surviving is a brother, Robert Bichler and his wife, Evelyn, Buffalo, N.Y.; sister, Mary Swienckowski, Torrington, Conn.; sister-in-law, Josephine Bichler, Chinchilla; nephew, Curt Bichler, Scranton; caregivers, Deborah Bichler, Lake Winola, and Beverly Peckham, Carlisle, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Earl, Charles, and Gustave and a sister, Mabel Salmons.

A funeral was to be Tuesday from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Barbara Synder, pastor of the Waverly United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla.
