Joseph James Hopfer, 15, of Long Pond died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at home. Born in Henderson, Nev., he was the son of Joseph A. Hopfer of Scott Township and Denise Loveall Boss, and stepson of Leonard Boss of Long Pond.
He was a ninth grade student at Pocono Mountain West Jr. High School and a member of the Urbane Gospel Choir. He enjoyed having fun, joking around and spending time with his brother. An avid outdoorsman, Joseph enjoyed fishing, riding his bike and his quad. He was also a great Philadelphia Eagles football fan. Growing up, Joseph was Nana’s golden boy, and his family will always remember him catching planes from the sky with Papa. His friends and family will miss his bright smile and contagious laughter.
Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Joseph Harry and Carol Hopfer, Las Vegas, Nev.; maternal grandmother, Joyce Loveall of Canoga Park, Ca.; two brothers, Joseph Thomas Boss, Long Pond, and Fred Fannon, Berkley, Ca.; a sister, Joelle Hopfer, Fresno, Ca., as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Loveall.
The funeral was to be Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Errol Morgan, associate pastor of the Parker Hill Community Church. Interment will be at the Tompkinsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
