Kevin Kennedy

September 26, 2009

Kevin Kennedy, 52, of Abingdon, Md., and formerly of Scranton, died Sept. 26 in the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Medical Center, Baltimore, after suffering a brain aneurism at home. His wife of 23 years is Karen Anne Maisel-Kennedy.

He was born in Scranton, son of Mary Grace Rock Kennedy and the late Bernard John Kennedy Sr. He was a 1974 graduate of Scranton Central High School and spent most of his career working as a production planner for Middle River Aircraft Systems in Eastern Baltimore County, Md. Before leaving Scranton, he worked at A.S. Beck Shoes in the Viewmont Mall, Dickson City, as a manager. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Driver’s Golf Club. He also was a member of an online poetry club and, as a photographer, he loved to take pictures. He was president of the Parents Organization at Harford Gymnastics for many years. An informal and warm person, he loved life, his friends and his family. In Kevin’s special way, his gentle kindness will live on as it was his desire to be an organ donor, and he shared the gift of life to five others. His gentle smile and kindness will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are two daughters, Corrie Elizabeth Kennedy and Meghan Marie Kennedy, at home; a brother, Bernard Kennedy Jr. and wife, Bernadette, Medford, Mass.; a sister, Maureen O’Malley and husband, Robert, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Andrew A. and Grace Rock paternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Kennedy; and an aunt, Virginia Kennedy.

Memorial services were held at McComas Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to UMMS Foundation, c/o Neuro Trauma Fund, University of Maryland Medical Center, R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, 29 S. Greene St., Suite 500, Baltimore, MD 21201; or Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland, 1730 Twin Springs Road, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21227.
