Michael J. McGuinness, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday, August 18, at the Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. His wife was the former Mary Elizabeth Dunne who died February 6, 2006. The couple had been married for 54 years.

Born in the Bronx, NY, son of the late John and Bridget Small McGuinness, he was a World War II Navy Veteran serving in the European Theater. He had resided in the Abington area since 1971 and had been employed as a computer programmer for Metropolitan Life prior to his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church and the Knights of Columbus Abington Council 6611.

Surviving are two sons, John and his life Caren, Tenafly, NJ and Kevin and his wife, Kathy, Purcivelle, VA; three daughters, Barbara Udomsak and her husband, Parry, Clarks Summit, Mary Worozbyt and her husband, Owen, Dunmore, and Katie Parsons and husband, Justin, Coatsville; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, and wife Dina, Owen, Marc, Mary Bridget, Catherine, Kelly, Tim, Mickey, Jonah, and Molly.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Brian; two brothers John and Edward.

The funeral was to be Friday morning, August 21, from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with mass at Our Lady of the Snows Church, S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care 100 Williams St., Dunmore PA 18512.
