Rev. Wyman Ritchie, Dalton, died at home Friday, Oct. 31. His wife is the former Mona Klinger; the couple had been married for 59 years last June.
Born in Truthville, NY, son of the late John and Eva Farrar Ritchie, he was a resident of Overfield Twp. For the past 17 years he was a member of the Summit Baptist Church. He graduated from Practical Bible Training, Dallas Theological Seminary and Cedarville College.
He was a pastor for almost 50 years and loved preaching God’s word. He will be remembered for reading through his Bible every year since he trusted Christ as his savior at the age of eleven on August 22, 1940. In his words, God changed from plow boy to a proclaimer of truth, his life was marked by persistence, submission, to Christ and a willing desire to serve others.
His life verse was NAHUM 1:7.
Also surviving are three daughters: Mona White, Nancy Ritchie, and Patty Stormont, and her husband, Michael; a son, Timothy Ritchie, and his wife, Jan; 11 grandchildren; four great -grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five siblings.
A funeral service was to be held Monday, Nov. 3 from the Summit Baptist Church, 232 Noble Rd., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Mark W. Schmitz, pastor and the Rev. Mark Ransom. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Summit Baptist Church for Daniel and Liz Ransom who will be going to Italy as Missionaries.
