Richard W. Treible, Factoryville died Monday evening, Jan. 4, at the Taylor Nursing Home. His wife is the former Lillian Monk, the couple has been married for over 39 years.
Born in Stroudsburg in 1923, he was the son of the late Edwin and Anna Herman Treible. He move to the Factoryville area in 1960 and prior to that lived in Dalton. He was a member of the Dalton Lion Club, Dalton Fire Co., as well as a former Boy Scout leader in Dalton.
Richard has the longest record of service to Lackawanna Trail among the retirees, 38 years. The veteran science teacher earned a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and achieved a master’s degree equivalency with graduate studies at Bowdoin and Juniata Colleges, and Bucknell and Rutgers Universities. He began teaching in 1945 at the former Dalton High School, moving to Trail High when the new district was formed in 1955.
Also surviving are two step–daughters, which were also his caregivers, Susan J. Brown and her husband Ted, Weatherly, and Cathy Everetts, Scranton; two sons George and Richard Treible; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers William and Edward Jr. Treible.
A memorial service will be private at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Dennis Gray.
