Robert A. Sheridan

Robert A. Sheridan, 66, of Clarks Summit died Jan. 7, at the Birchwood Racquet Club while playing tennis. Born June 10, 1943 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Catherine (McDermott) Sheridan, he was a 1961 graduate of Scranton Central High School, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Class of 1965. At Penn State, he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He began his teaching career in the Pottstown School District and retired after 35 years from Abington Heights High School in June 2001. During his early years at Abington Heights, he was the High School tennis coach and he was a member of the NEA, PSEA and AHEA educational organizations. He was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Assoc. and PASR. Bob enjoyed being a member of the Scranton Tennis Club, the Birchwood Racquet Club and the Red School House horseshoe team. An avid outdoorsman, his passions were hunting, fishing and raising his beloved beagles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher and friend.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sarah “Sally” Quinlin-Sheridan, three children from his first marriage; a daughter Wendy (Sheridan) Nowicki and her husband Eric, Hatfield; a son Robert L. Sheridan, Lake Winola and a daughter Stacey (Sheridan) Summa and her husband Christopher, New Orleans, La.; two brothers Donald and his wife Judy, Wilmington, N.C.; and Brian and his wife Shelly (Rybnick), Dalton; a sister Karen (Sheridan) Scholler and her husband George, Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Natalie and Ryan Nowicki, Rocco and Isabella “Bella” Summa; his former wife, Dianne (Conforti) Sheridan, Dalton; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sheridan and a nephew, Brian Sheridan Jr.

Arrangements were from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. a Celebration of Life service was held at the funeral home, where family and friends were invited to share memories of Bob.
