Ruth A. McCoy, Dalton, died Thursday morning, Dec. 3, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
McCoy was born in Athol Springs, N.Y., daughter of Henry and Catherine Benson Alexander, Dalton. She was a resident of the Dalton area most of her life. She was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God. Prior to retirement, she was a hairdresser for Malcolm’s.
Ruth was an angel to her family and friends and will be missed by all that knew her.
Also surviving are a daughter, Shannon O’Malley, and her husband, Bernard, Factoryville; a son, Jonathan, and his wife, Kelly; Lake Winola; a sister, Catherine Smith, and her husband, Erik, Factoryville; three grandchildren, Colin and Aidan O’Malley and Meadow McCoy; companion, John Dzwonczyk, Dalton; nephew, Thomas “Rusty” Landers PV2, HI, and Chauncey Landers, Dalton; and niece, Ashley L. Clifford, Factoryville.
A funeral service was held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
